HOUSE OF THREE ROOMS IN ŠEJBY

This small house at the foot of a mountain was created as a concept of 'three bubbles' – bedroom, bathroom, and living space. The result is a cozy wooden building that combines intimacy, everyday life, and proximity to nature.

Alena lives in a caravan on the edge of the Novohradské Mountains, where she grows all kinds of plants that thrive in the local soil. Designing a house for her was a delightful task. The site lies at the foot of Mount Vysoká, right beside a reed-covered pond and an access road that continues along an old path lined with mature trees leading into the forest. The small house is meant to be inhabited by a couple, with space for two daughters and their children who come for visits.

Our task was to create a cozy, deeply intimate bedroom, a separate relaxing bathroom, and a living space that allows for lounging, cooking, sewing, writing, and working with herbs, including space above for drying them. We began with sketches of three 'bubbles' representing the bedroom, bathroom, and living space. These gradually transformed into three living “rooms”, which are connected together in a rational, meaningful way. Step by step, a small, warm wooden house with a metal roof emerged, ready for life at the foothills of the Novohradské Mountains.
