A new concept of a mountain lodge in the Krkonoše Mountains, inspired by the meeting of three mountain paths. A stone fortress with wooden cores provides accommodation and hospitality, while an inner 'path' connects the building with the surrounding landscape.

The peaks and plains of the Krkonoše Mountains are dotted with mountain huts that offer rest, shelter and refreshment – and Petr’s Lodge was one of them. After it was sadly destroyed by fire, we sought to bring it back to life. The lodge once stood at the junction of three trails, which you would encounter while crossing the Krkonoše range. This triple path became the key inspiration for both the concept and placement of the new structure. It felt as though the paths flowed through the building itself, inspiring the idea of bringing the 'journey' inside. It was intended to be a route that runs through the entire house without disturbing its function.
The result is a unified, protective shell. It is a stone-and-concrete fortress containing separate insulated wooden cores, within which sleeping, dining, accommodation and work take place. The space between the outer shell and the wooden cores became that inner path we envisioned. It is a connecting corridor running through the house, serving as a kind of veranda where one can pause, have a snack, or simply pass through and continue the journey through the Krkonoše Mountains.
