The renovation of a historic villa in Lomnice nad Popelkou restores the building to its original beauty and complements it with contemporary architectural elements. The project combines traditional crafts, Art Nouveau details and modern glazing, including a unique facade created in collaboration with Lasvit. The villa is transformed into an urban jewel with new apartments, a residential attic and a vibrant public space for culture.

After years of relentless deterioration, the villa is awaiting a complete and careful renovation that will restore its long-forgotten beauty. We met with the client at the Designblok trade fair and our collaboration was very intense. Given the villa's location in the center of Lomnice nad Popelkou, we decided to organize an open house event together with the client and the city, which turned out to be a pleasant gathering of local people. We guided them through the dilapidated villa and presented our initial architectural design. Many people shared their memories and stories about living in the villa in the past, including the story of the client who decided to bring here a new life.
We were all striving to clean up the neglected "Cinderella" and reveal the mesmerising beauty within. Our main goal was to preserve as many original elements as possible and breathe new life into them. The result is a villa that is a jewel of the city, with a revitalized historic façade and modern glazing. In the interior, we worked with Art Nouveau elements, solid materials and colors. Our approach is primarily based on traditional construction methods and original crafts.
The villa offers five apartments in the historic part and two apartments in the glass-enclosed section called the 'neck'. The mansard attic has been converted into living space and is illuminated by perforated tiles from Nebesys, which bring light into the entire space. The façade of the aforementioned glass neck, which connects the villa to the adjacent factory, was created in collaboration with Lasvit. Although it looks very modern compared to the villa, the concept of this façade is based on the historical context of textile production in the factory, and it's intended to resemble a fabric structure.
The design also includes a private garden behind the villa, as well as a public space in front of the villa and factory, including parking. The villa project offers space for exhibitions and social events, which can also be held on the piazza in front of the building.
